I've used this a few times for making miso soup and other soups. I've handled it with care, so there are no noticeable scratches or stains. The knob has been replaced with an animal knob (rabbit) for easier gripping. The original knob is not included. I purchased this at a premium outlet about 6 years ago. As an outlet item, it does not come with a lifetime warranty. STAUB products are handmade. There are individual differences unique to handmade items, such as spots, protrusions, color unevenness, and black spots caused by air bubbles during the manufacturing process.
