1974 Marshall JMP1987 Vintage! Super Rare! This is a full original 1974 Marshall JMP1987. #Other limited-time sales are here I have owned 1971, 1972, and reissue 1987 (JTM45) models, but this 1974 Marshall JMP1987 is the one I've kept the longest. The reason I've held onto it so carefully is because it embodies the ideal Marshall sound I imagine. Specifically, setting aside the reissues, each era had its own distinctiveness and quality, but this 74 model has a higher gain than others, and the distortion is incredibly satisfying. The solid midrange and low end are the biggest charms of this amp. It's truly an amp with a typical brown sound. This is an early model when Yamaha became the import agent, and the power cable plug is stamped with YAMAHA. That alone makes it rare. I got this amp from a band member around 75-76, so you could almost say I'm the sole owner. For safety, the impedance selector has been replaced with a later, safer one. I've struggled with other Marshalls where the selector pins had poor contact or wouldn't come out due to oxidation when I wanted to change the impedance. Those who own older models will understand... I also have a slant-type 12x4 cabinet from the same year, but I haven't listed it because shipping seems difficult. By the way, it looks like ordinary black tolex, but it's actually purple tolex that was spray-painted black. I didn't do it, though... Please let me know if you're interested. I've been able to use over 10 of these, including personal ownership, up to this age, but this is the most ideal Marshall.
