● Dorome (Mud Eye) Beautiful and refined, yet with an indescribable expression that possesses an eerie intensity. The name comes from the gold mud applied to the white eyes. Gold mud is also applied to the teeth visible through the slightly open mouth. The slightly concave face is painted pale, with gold in the eyes, and the hair is drawn in a disheveled manner. The shallow indentation under the nose gives off an otherworldly, mysterious aura. Originally used for roles such as the female bodhisattvas in "Taima" and "Ama," it later came to be used in "Aoi no Ue," "Kanawa" (as the mae-jite), and "Kinuta" because its appearance was deemed suitable for a jealous spirit.
