This is the compact word processor WR-201, released by PLUS in 1987 (Showa 62). It boasts surprisingly high specs for its time, and is compact enough to fit in the palm of your hand. Unlike other word processors that use keyboard input, this handy word processor uses an innovative "handwriting input" method, allowing you to print the text directly. Furthermore, it has a built-in character set of 3,685 characters and a dictionary of approximately 41,000 words. It can print directly or onto tape, and offers a variety of printing options such as handwriting phrase conversion and character decoration. Despite being expected to be a big hit, it was an unfortunate masterpiece that quickly disappeared after the release of King Jim's Tepra, which enabled kanji conversion. It has been stored in a warehouse for many years, but as it was produced in small numbers, it is a rare item. We hope that collectors of retro Showa stationery will add it to their collections.
