The frame's condition is excellent, as shown in the photos. ◉ This is a very valuable target from the Yabusame (mounted archery) ritual of Washihara Hachimangu Shrine, located in western Shimane Prefecture. This Yabusame is held on the first Sunday of April every year. Using Japan's only existing Yabusame course, which is about 250m long, you can witness a magnificent samurai picture scroll as if you've time-slipped. This course has a history of about 600 years. 48 years ago, in 1976 (Showa 51), the visit of 30th generation Kiyokazu Ogasawara, a master of the Ogasawara school, to Washihara Hachimangu Shrine, led to the revival of the Ogasawara-ryu ancient Yabusame ritual, with local archers competing. The archers, shouting "In-yo" (Yin and Yang), ride horses that gallop like the wind, and successively hit the "First Target," "Second Target," and "Third Target." The targets are the same 50cm square boards as the one for sale. When a target is successfully hit, the board shatters or is pierced, and a great applause erupts. However, even seasoned archers find it extremely difficult to conquer all three targets. The audience watches with bated breath.
