It's a blend with polyurethane, so it has stretch and is not see-through. The contrast might appear strong in the images, but personally, I don't feel the fabric is overly shiny. There are buttonholes on the front and back of the waist, and you can adjust the length by changing the position of the buttons on the suspenders. You can wear it at the waist, or slightly higher.
