It's quite thick but lightweight! I used it to protect against getting hit in the wrist, for ages 6-9. For bigger kids, maybe up to age 8. When I went to bat against upperclassmen's pitches, the younger kids with thinner wrists would sometimes fracture or sprain their wrists even with a soft ball. This allowed them to swing without fear of inside high pitches.
