Yamanaka-nuri is lacquerware produced in the Yamanaka Onsen area of Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture, and is also known as Yamanaka lacquerware. It is one of the three major lacquerware production areas in Ishikawa Prefecture, alongside "Wajima for coating" and "Kanazawa for maki-e (sprinkled picture)," with "Yamanaka for wood base." This is an 8-shaku (144 ml) masu (wooden square cup) made for promotional purposes by Kikusui Shuzo, a brewery in Shibata City, Niigata Prefecture, which commissioned the Yamanaka Lacquerware Cooperative Association.
