This was a cartridge-based system, similar to the conventional Instamatic 126 system, but miniaturized to a 13x17mm frame size. Canon was cautious about entering the Pocket Instamatic market, but decided that if they were going to release a camera, it needed to have specifications and features that would satisfy users. The 110ED was highly regarded as a high-end camera, featuring a luxurious 4-group, 5-element 26mm F2 lens, a rangefinder system with double-image coincidence to fully utilize the performance of the F2 large-aperture lens, aperture-priority EE exposure control, and a built-in date imprinting mechanism.
