These are indoor shoes with thong straps, resembling zori (Japanese sandals) or geta (wooden clogs). They were worn for Shichi-Go-San (a traditional Japanese festival for children) and photoshoots. While you might notice some details when looking at the shoes closely, they didn't look out of place when actually worn, as shown in the fourth photo (wearing white socks).
