About Kosometsuke: Kosometsuke is a type of pottery from the early Ming Dynasty in China, from the Xuande era (Muromachi period) to the Wanli-Tianqi era (Azuchi-Momoyama period), and is a folk craft of the common kilns, not the official kilns. Many Kosometsuke pieces came to Japan from Jingdezhen, the kiln at that time, and as you hold them in your hands and look at them, you feel a warm sense of peace and affection. They are neither high-class nor glamorous masterpieces. This is Kosometsuke. The shaping of the vessels, the glazing, and the painting were all done relatively freely with the extracted clay, which is what the Japanese have come to love and cherish.
