It's a coat dress remade from a very well-preserved kimono. It's woven with blue thread on a navy blue background. The pattern is a geometric design resembling waves. The front width is about 74 cm, and the back width is about 70 cm. The length is about 115 cm. The two pieces at the ends of the back are connected near the hem. I've priced it accordingly. I've made it a free size, so I haven't put buttons on the front. Instead, it's designed to be tied with a string. The front panels are wide, and when you bring them together and tie the string, you can wear it like a dress. The collar is wide, and you can either stand it up or fold it over. If you close the front panels tightly, you can wear it warmly. The sleeves are short, so you can wear thick clothing underneath. The cuffs are double-layered, giving it an elegant look. Silk is light, and even a single thin layer is warm, making it perfect for cold winters. I also wear a dress made from a silk kimono, and I love how warm it is. As the weather gets cooler, you can fold it up and put it in your bag, making it a useful item to throw on. Someone who bought a Tsumugi coat of the same design wore it to their granddaughter's Hinamatsuri (Doll Festival) luncheon. It's a chic and lustrous coat dress that can be worn to formal occasions. It's mostly sewn with a French seam and a triple-fold hem, so the inside looks beautiful too. It takes almost twice as long to sew.
