The BOSS OD-2 TURBO OverDrive, sold from 1985 to 1994, is an evolutionary successor to the OD-1. Unlike the OD-1, which used an operational amplifier IC, the OD-2 employs a discrete circuit design, without an IC. A key feature is the inclusion of a TURBO mode, enabling higher-gain sounds than the standard overdrive. Furthermore, the addition of a TONE knob, absent on the OD-1, significantly expanded the sound-shaping possibilities, especially when combined with the TURBO mode.
