Perhaps it was the gauze, but his skin problems gradually improved. However, the next set of issues arose... Traditional fundoshi have long fabric tails, making them inconvenient for public restrooms, so he could only wear them at home. Mokko fundoshi use side ties, which meant he had to retie them every time he went to the restroom. The knots from the ties would also press uncomfortably against his belt when wearing pants, and the excess fabric in the crotch area felt bulky. Our goal was to create pants that could be worn comfortably even under slim-fitting suits. While comfort at home and while sleeping is important, I realized that those with sensitive skin are battling itchiness all day long, so I wanted to create pants that could be worn anytime.
