It has a slightly thick and sturdy body, and the kohiki glaze is well applied. The line patterns seem random, yet provide a pleasant accent. Ryo Mikami (1959-) studied under Yo Asano, graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, and is currently a professor at the university. He creates monochrome works such as robust black glaze and kohiki ware, as well as colored paintings.
