Thank you for viewing. I have confirmed operation with AA batteries. Recording, playback, fast forward, and rewind using the built-in microphone are all OK. It has twin speakers on the back of the main unit, so you can check playback without headphones. You can adjust the playback speed to be faster or slower. The tape counter did not work. The item for sale is the main unit only, and batteries and tapes are not included. This is a used item and will be delivered as is. Thank you for your consideration.
