Wiped down with disinfectant wipes. Operation confirmed. This was for a baby born small, so I used it regularly until they were about a year old. The mat was only used a few times. I usually used a bath towel on it. There are small scratches on the surface. My older child put a toy on it when I wasn't looking. I think those are the scratches from that time. Please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned about minor details.
