The opening for the water bottle strap is about 4cm. You use it by threading the water bottle strap through it. It can also be used for paint shoulder straps or calligraphy shoulder straps if the size fits. It can be used for types where the shoulder strap can be removed. Two layers of quilted fabric are used to prevent your child's shoulder from hurting. As this is handmade by an amateur, there may be some slight imperfections.
