These are Suruga-nuri men's geta (Japanese wooden clogs) made by Hanamori Shoten in Shizuoka City, my hometown. They are in beautiful condition, only tried on. The tip of the thong (maetsubo) is thick, which increases awareness of the three toes during walking, reflexively strengthening the stepping motion. - The uneven surface of the geta conforms to the sole of the foot, and lowering the heel area shifts the center of gravity backward, stimulating the calf muscles.
