This is a cup & saucer and a hand-painted cake plate from Okura Toen, a high-end Japanese tableware manufacturer (used by the Imperial Household). The motif of the cake plate is a painting of lilac time roses. Lilac Time was one of the early roses, a mauve (wisteria) pink, high-centered, pointed petal variety, created by Samuel Darragh McGredy in 1956. It is a medium-sized flower in the purple family, with good flowering and an elegant fragrance, making it a valuable variety. Each piece is painted by a skilled painter. The colors and atmosphere differ from piece to piece, but please understand that this is due to the hand-painting. I received this from my mother, so I'm not certain, but it appears to be quite old. The inside of the mark on the back is gold, and the outline is a red stamp. Judging from this mark, it is considered to be quite rare. The cake plate is unused and remains in its box. The cup & saucer were used once and then stored at home. The box shows signs of aging, such as dullness. The items themselves show no visible damage or scratches to the gold trim. They are in overall beautiful condition, but please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned about minor details or seek perfection. The cake plate will be placed in its dedicated box, and together with the cup & saucer, they will be carefully packed and shipped in one box. Please consider the above before making a purchase.
