Afghan Women's Support Project "EJAAD" Afghan Women's Embroidery & Education Project EJAAD 'EJAAD' means innovation, creation (in Dari). It aims to create a place where young women, who have difficulty obtaining education and employment opportunities, can thrive, while also preserving the traditional crafts of Afghanistan. EJAAD began in 2017 with an encounter with Mr. Abdul, an Afghan student studying at Osaka University. In Afghanistan, the rights of women to education and employment may be further suppressed, but it is precisely at times like these that grassroots activities that directly connect with local women are important. We will continue to support them, encourage them, and help them realize their dreams. Since the political change in August 2021, the Afghan economy has collapsed, and people are living in difficult circumstances. Furthermore, under Taliban rule, women's basic human rights are being suppressed. The EJAAD team has been providing emergency humanitarian aid (food distribution, medical support) during the winter. And, from the spring of 2022, the construction of the EJAAD Center was restarted, and a base for women to learn and work was completed. We are grateful for your support.
