Ikuo Hirayama (1930–2009) was a Japanese painter who repeatedly visited the Yellow River during his travels on the Silk Road, and deeply loved its eternal flow and the scenery of the loess blending into it. As the birthplace of Chinese civilization, he depicted the Yellow River's various expressions depending on the time of day, such as the orange vitality and the silvery, serene water surface, imbuing his works with prayers for peace.
