This is a hozuki (Japanese lantern plant) incense container, created by Hideyuki Kawagishi, the son of Mitsumasa Kawagishi, one of the renowned lacquer artists of Wajima's dry lacquer tradition. There are no noticeable scratches or stains, and it is in beautiful condition. The accompanying box also shows slight yellowing and minor scuffs, but is in good condition. It has been stored in a dark room.
