Louis Comfort Tiffany, the founder's son, is famous as an artist of stained glass, furnishings, and various glass crafts. This item is a small piece, a salt cellar (salt dish), made by Tiffany Studios in 1892-1893. At the time, it was called a bonbonniere (candy dish) and seems to have been a versatile small dish, not just for salt. This is a genuine item, with all aspects of its shape, color, texture, and signature carefully examined for authenticity. Generally called Favrile Glass, the metallic-like surface created by a special manufacturing process features gold, yellow-green, pink, purple... The beautiful iridescent colors change depending on the viewing angle and the way the light hits it. The salt cellars often seen have a wavy shape like the folds of a shell at the top, and this is a typical example. It's a slightly larger 3-inch size. The bottom (contact surface) is small and almost smoothly polished, with the initials "L.C.T." (Louis Comfort Tiffany) on the periphery, and the model number "3089" engraved near the center. The eight folds are smooth and beautiful, with a pale silver-blue color mainly on the inside, and gold-pink and blue on the outside. When placed in a light-colored area, the inside and outside appear pale pink and gold, resembling a beautiful scallop shell, and when placed in a darker area, the inside looks particularly elegant blue.
