This is a velvet shawl from the mid-Showa period. It was purchased at the Mitsukoshi Department Store and has a brand tag. Mitsukoshi Department Store was originally Mitsukoshi Gofukuten (a kimono shop), and there was a time when it was praised as "the best for Japanese clothing," and this item is from that era. The outer fabric is velvet, and the lining has a crepe-like texture, similar to kinsha (a type of silk). It is unknown whether it is pure silk, and there is no tag indicating the material. The actual color is a deep crimson, reminiscent of a dark red rose. It has a Japanese color tone, and I tried taking pictures in various places and lighting conditions, but the actual color cannot be completely reproduced in the photos.
