This is a Tosa inkstone (Kochi) that has been tuned by Minista (by remodeling the ink well and ink surface to improve the inkstone's performance). A Tosa inkstone sticker is affixed to the back of the inkstone. Tosa inkstones are made using stone quarried in Kochi Prefecture, and are crafted by Tosa Suzuri Seisakusho. This stone produces ink well. When wet, it turns slightly blue. It makes it easy to create rich, black ink, and gives lines a sense of depth. It is suitable for producing three-dimensional, black lines in kanji and kana, and is also good for creating a sense of depth in sumi-e and Japanese painting. If you use pine soot ink, the blue color will be more pronounced, so it is also recommended for those who want a strong blue hue. The ink well is deeply carved, so you can use plenty of ink. The ink surface is also wide, so I think it is easy to grind ink. Good for kanji (up to full-size paper), kana (up to full-size paper), and sumi-e.
