This is a piece of indigo-dyed cotton boro. It appears to be from the Meiji to Taisho eras. It is likely that it was used for futon covers, etc. This indigo dye was collected in Kaga. Touching it, one feels the gentle texture of hand-spun yarn, and it has a well-worn feel. There are considerable patches, tears, frays, damage, and stains, but the clear indigo color makes it a refreshing piece. Also, please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned about cotton dust, the unique smell of old cloth, or the smell of mothballs.
