It's from the era when the body was made in Taiwan. The headjoint was made at the Powell headquarters in Boston, USA, and is engraved with the Powell logo. (This is not the current PS-850 model sold overseas) The headjoint is made of a laminated material called Diamondwood, unique to Powell, using American hardwood. It maintains the original tone, feel, and color of the wood while providing durability. The body is made of resin, so you don't have to worry about cracking, making it easy to handle. Furthermore, it comes with a resin headjoint, which is safe to use when playing outdoors. Although a lot of resin is used in this instrument, the sound when played makes you think, "さすが Powell!" (さすが Powell! - "As expected of Powell!"). I have played many other manufacturers' resin instruments, and I actually own several, both in the past and currently, but I feel a significant difference in the amount and quality of "overtones" contained in the sound. It plays without any problems from the lowest to the highest notes. However, as it was a spare instrument, I haven't adjusted it much recently, so you may want to have it adjusted or the pads replaced as needed. Currently, there is no mention of the Sonare model piccolo in the Powell catalog distributed in Japan, but when it was available a few years ago, it cost over 600,000 yen (this is the price of the current PS-850 model. I have also included a photo of the price list from that time for reference). Currently, the most affordable Powell piccolo generally available in Japan is the Signature model, with a list price of over 970,000 yen including tax. I am listing my collection little by little to raise funds, but if possible, I hope it will go to someone who will cherish it.
