40's US.ARMY M-43 Field Pile Cap This model was adopted as a cold weather cap during WWII and was produced for a very short period. It provides excellent cold protection by lowering the ear flaps on both sides. The successor to this M-43, the MQ-1 and M-51 caps, do not have pile lining on the underside of the visor. The M-43 is less common in the current market compared to the MQ-1 and M-51 models, making it a rare and valuable item. The alpaca wool is clean and does not shed.
