This is an unsewn fukuro obi (a type of Japanese formal obi). I bought it thinking it would look cool once sewn, but I never actually had it made. Because it's a solid color, it can be used for both formal and everyday wear depending on the kimono. If you have the obi core finished firmly, it's suitable for formal occasions. If it's softer, it's perfect for tsumugi or komon (types of casual kimono). I think it's a great deal. There are no smokers or pets in my home. It's unused and has no odors or damage, but I don't recommend it to those who are overly sensitive. Please understand that returns are not accepted after purchase.
