I purchased this in Hawaii many years ago. The stone is unheated smoky quartz. It's 14k, and the "k" after that is 14 karat gold, there's no mistake. It's heavy at 11.2g. You'll know it's gold when you hold it. As a side note, I have several items of my own that are "k" after the number, and they are all gold.
