Antique mother-of-pearl incense container. The design features extremely fine mother-of-pearl scattered across the entire surface except the bottom. It has a sparkle like a distant galaxy, and it's rare to see anything like it nowadays. The base is difficult to discern, but it appears to be vermilion lacquer over black lacquer, like Negoro ware. There is no box. As shown in the images, there are cracks, scratches, stains, and flaking of the mother-of-pearl, consistent with its age. Please be aware of this.
