This is a Nepalese antique wood carving relief I purchased from an antique shop about 10 years ago. It's a small but impactful piece, featuring a seated Buddha carved within a shrine-shaped frame. The simple yet powerful expression and the concise lotus petal patterns evoke the aesthetic beauty rooted in Nepalese folk beliefs. The material is wood. Through years of religious use, the surface has worn smooth, and the whole piece has developed a deep, rich color. It was likely used as a household shrine or for personal worship. It comes with the price tag and notes from when I bought it. I seem to recall being told that "Rashitangpal (or similar)" was a local name or place of origin, but I'm not certain. While the exact age is unknown, I was told that based on the style and condition, it's likely a Nepalese wooden Buddhist carving from the medieval period (around the 15th to 18th centuries).
