In 1969 (Showa 44), he apprenticed under his father, Yoshiyoshi Oikawa, an outstanding craftsman in Iwate Prefecture, and succeeded the family business of manufacturing Nanbu iron kettles, dedicating himself to iron kettle production. As the chairman of the Iron Kettle Subcommittee, he excels in the techniques of lightening Nanbu iron kettles, rust prevention treatment, and coloring. He has strived to improve the quality of Nanbu iron kettles and has contributed to the spread of iron kettles in China. Since 2012 (Heisei 24), he has been active as an instructor for the Nanbu Iron Kettle Traditional Craft Succession Project, training two successors. Achievements: 1978 (Showa 53): Received the Newcomer's Award at the 20th Mizusawa Casting Creation Exhibition.
