Young scientist Gustave is ordered by Napoleon III to develop an elixir of immortality as a secret weapon for war, but he dies in an explosion before it is completed. This avoids the war, and the history of France changes dramatically. Time passes, and it is 1941 in Paris, ruled by Napoleon V. The industrial revolution did not occur because talented scientists disappeared one after another for 70 years, and the city relied only on steam engines. In such a Paris, the lonely girl Avril and her cat Darwin set out on a journey to find her parents and grandfather Pops, who are scientists who have disappeared...
