I stored this item in a dark place after using it a few times. This is a scientific toy called "Chikyu Goma" (Earth Top) from Tiger Shokai, which went out of business 20 years ago. It utilizes the principle of gyroscopic effect. The top surface is purple, and the bottom surface is green.
