Hi-STANDARD, a Japanese band, was on the label, and they produced the band, bringing them to Japan and making them a hit. Their CD sales often surpassed those of major labels and MTV, and they toured six continents and 42 countries worldwide. Many artists, such as SUM 41, were influenced by NOFX. In 1983, NOFX was formed by Fat Mike (real name: Mike Burkett), Eric Sandin, and Eric Melvin, who were high school students at the time. The band name was taken from Negative FX, and the "NO" in NOFX was meant to signify "not wanting to be a lame band."
