This is a refurbished and working used National (now Panasonic) microcassette tape recorder. Model: M-88, Made in Japan. It's an old, Showa-era retro machine, but it works properly after servicing, including replacing the rubber belts crucial for tape transport, improving conductivity of electrical contacts, lubrication, and cleaning. It functions without any problems: recording, playback, fast forward, rewind, pause, and two tape speeds. It has auto-reverse (operates during recording) to automatically flip the tape from the front to the back. It has separate erase and record/playback heads for two-way recording. Although it's an early mechanical auto-reverse, you can select either two-way or one-way recording, and it will automatically stop at the end. The headphone and microphone jacks are 3.5mm. The microphone is also built-in. It does not have a tape counter. It uses two AA batteries. There is no rust or dirt inside the battery compartment. The exterior has some signs of use, with minor scratches and dirt, but it's clean. The approximate size of the machine is 65mm wide x 127mm high x 25mm thick.
