From the "Seika" series, a Kimekomi Hina doll titled "Kinugasa," crafted by Kenichi Suzuki, a distinguished traditional craftsman of Japan. This exquisite doll features a noble and elegant countenance, adorned in traditional court attire. The layering of the garments is remarkably refined, with exquisite pattern matching and a deeply evocative color palette. Beautiful from every angle, with full cheeks, delicate eyes and mouth, and a thoughtful expression. The masterful sculpting possesses an indescribable sophistication. Some pieces are made with Nishijin-ori fabric. I have personally long admired this doll maker, whose creations I believe are worthy of being designated as Living National Treasures. The dedicated box shows age-related deterioration, such as discoloration of the paper material, and the yellow cord has several spots of light ink stains. These are less noticeable when tied, but please be aware. [Linen] A hand-stitched runner purchased in America, possibly French linen. Features cross-stitch embroidery of coral-colored flowers, leaves, and berries, with a lustrous and firm fringe in a similar tone, creating a delicate appearance. Flowers, leaves, and berries are arranged rhythmically, alternating on each side from a single branch/stem. The soft coral pink, as if time-kissed, stands out against the natural linen. The hem features double openwork drawn thread work, creating a delicate, airy, and light impression. Slubs are visible in the linen threads, suggesting it may be hand-spun. The tone is antique ivory with subtle hints of grass green and gray, or a gentle antique ecru. Cute fringes adorn the four corners in a similar tone. Many of the fringe threads are not cut at the tip but form loops, and their firmness and luster suggest they may be silk threads. It has a smooth texture with a pleasing, well-worn softness and is of medium thickness. Linen runner/fabric portion only: 29cm x 44cm + approx. 2cm fringe on each side.
