This is a cylindrical haniwa (clay figure) with a human face. Later haniwa are elaborately made, but those from the early period appear to have faces attached. If you wet this item with a brush dipped in water, it will immediately absorb the water, and when you smell it, it has a distinctive earthy odor. The place of origin is unknown. The size is approximately 23 cm in height and 10 cm in diameter.
