This dress was made from a disassembled, washed, and ironed Oshima Tsumugi kimono with basting stitches still attached. It's a very unique-shaped dress. I made it thinking it would go well with the impactful Oshima Tsumugi fabric. The pattern is so powerful, I went bold with the design! The lining of the pockets was originally a pale pink from this kimono, but it didn't quite match after cutting and sewing, so I used red lining from another Oshima Tsumugi. The large pockets are a key feature of this dress. They can hold anything and I think they'll be very useful. The design is from a book by Mitsuyo Yoshida. You might not know how to wear it, so I've included the beautiful model from the book for reference. The Oshima Tsumugi has a crisp, smooth, and soft texture. The auspicious hemp leaf pattern and large flowers are very powerful, and I think this dress will make you feel energized. As this is a vintage kimono, there may be overlooked odors, stains, or imperfections. Please understand this. This is a handmade item, so there may be imperfections. Please forgive any shortcomings.
