This is a hand towel dyed using the "Hon-zome (Chusen)" method. Chusen dyeing involves placing a stencil (the same length as one hand towel) on the fabric, applying paste, folding the fabric, and applying paste again. This process is repeated about 20 times. Afterward, dye is poured from above and sucked up from below using a compressor. Because the dye penetrates through, the fabric is dyed evenly on both sides. This traditional technique is done by hand by skilled artisans, so please understand that there may be variations in the dyeing, such as blurring or fading. This is how the unique patterns are created, and it is also a characteristic of "Chusen" dyeing. When washing, using hot water may cause the dye to run, resulting in blurring or color fading. Be sure to use cold water and hand wash. Use a neutral detergent. Also, do not leave it wet for an extended period. Due to the nature of the material, it may shrink slightly when washed for the first time.
