Here are two used "Chrysanthemum Stamps" from the late Meiji era, commonly used domestically, featuring the Imperial Chrysanthemum crest in the center. I've collected some interesting postmarks from them. First, the postmark on the left stamp is "Taihoku" (Taipei), dated November 27, 1908 (Meiji 41). This indicates it was mailed in Taiwan Province, which was under Japanese rule at the time. The postmark on the right stamp is partially obscured, but it appears to say "SANNOMIYA KOBE JAPAN" on the outside, with "6 MAY 05" in the center. This is likely a postmark from Sannomiya Post Office in Kobe, dated May 6, 1905. The back of the stamp has some stains from the paper not being cleanly removed from the envelope. These stamps were used approximately 120 years ago and feature rare English postmarks. I believe both are valuable historical artifacts of Japan's postal service.
