This is an Ueno-yaki tokkuri (sake bottle), a set of 5. Ueno-yaki is a type of pottery fired in Tagawa-gun, Fukuoka Prefecture. ✴︎Reference: Ueno-yaki is a nationally designated traditional craft with a history of over 400 years. Its main characteristics are as follows: Thin and Lightweight: Developed as tea ceremony pottery, it is thinner and lighter than other ceramics, with an elegant texture. Diverse Glazes: It is characterized by the use of a wide variety of glazes, such as celadon, iron glaze, and white-brown glaze. The "kiln change" (yohen) that occurs when the glaze melts in the kiln creates a variety of colors, and no two pieces are alike. History: It is said to have originated when Hosokawa Tadaoki, the lord of the Buzen Kokura domain, invited Sonkai, a Korean potter, to open a kiln. During the Edo period, it was counted as one of the "Enshu Seven Kilns" by the great tea master Kobori Enshu and was loved by tea people.
