Thank you for viewing my items (*^^*) This is a flower vase from Igarashi Shikki, featuring Nikko-bori. "Nikko-bori" is a wood carving craft unique to Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture. It originated in the early Edo period as a side craft of the artisans gathered to build Nikko Toshogu Shrine. Rooted in the carvings of Nikko Toshogu, it is characterized by the powerful yet delicate curves created by a unique carving tool called "hikkaki." I received this as a gift, but it doesn't seem to fit in my home, so I'm offering it for sale!! Although it is a traditional craft, the very rare and vibrant blue color also makes it modern!!
