This is a masterpiece one-horn album by Joe Wilder, a jazz trumpeter who also played with Lionel Hampton and the Count Basie Orchestra. Although his name is not well-known in Japan, listening to this record will make you realize his true ability. It features many famous songs and is considered the best among his few leader albums. The members are all masters: Hank Jones (p), Wendell Marshall (b), and Kenny Clarke (ds). His deeply moving performance on the ballad "Prelude To A Kiss" is superb. Hank Jones' exquisite piano playing is also a highlight. You will be healed by the nostalgic and warm tone of the trumpet. US Savoy MG-12063 DG mono The original was released in 1956, but this record is likely a second pressing from around the same time. The coated jacket has some discoloration, but there is little aging and it is in good condition. The record has some minor scratches (see photos 8 and 9), and there is only slight noise in these areas. There are some occasional pops and crackles in other places, but overall it is in good condition. There is no RVG stamp, but you can enjoy the crisp monaural sound. Although it has been reissued many times, this is a valuable record with a jacket and disc close to the original.
