Artisans use dye molds to hand-print the dyes one color at a time, and then use a salt-shrink process that utilizes a chemical reaction to create the uneven texture. Kyoto Yuzen is a representative Japanese dyeing technique used to dye various pictorial patterns on kimonos and other items. This traditional technique is used to dye the leather, which is then made into sneakers.
