This is a wall-hanging decoration of a carved Hannya mask (Noh mask style). It is hand-carved from solid wood, and its powerful expression, utilizing the marks of the carving tools and the wood grain, is distinctive. A wooden base plate is attached to the back, allowing it to be displayed on a wall as is. The horns and facial features are three-dimensional, making it recommended as an impactful interior decoration or Japanese-style display. There are ink inscriptions on the back of the base plate, such as: - Visit to Chigusa-san's house - Enoshima - January 21, 1973 (Showa 48) These may be records of visits or notes regarding its acquisition at the time. There is also a red stamp-like mark on the base plate, but it is illegible. The piece is likely a folk art item from the Showa period.
