I'm currently cleaning up my parents' house. This was hanging on the wall at the top of the stairs. I'd always just assumed it was a decorative hanging, and only today, after taking it down and seeing the character "ayu" on the back, did I realize it might be a net for catching ayu (sweetfish)! When I searched "ayu, ami" (ayu, net), I found similar shapes under the name "ayu-tamo" (sweetfish landing net), so I've listed it with that name. However, it might not be an ayu-tamo. Please be aware of this. The whole thing is painted, but I'm not sure what kind of craftsmanship was used for the dragonfly and the "ayu" characters. It looks like it might be inlaid with mother-of-pearl... but I'm not sure. It seems to be quite a rare item... Would anyone who likes it be interested? Please understand the item based on the description and photos, and only purchase if you agree.
