This is a Wajima-nuri (lacquerware) confection plate (individual serving plate) from the late Meiji to Taisho era. It is a piece that was carefully preserved in the storehouse of an old family in Sakaki Town, local to the area. It was carefully stored in an old Japanese paper bag and is in almost unused condition. The plate is made from a natural wood base, thickly coated with black lacquer, and features a plum blossom design inlaid with gold. It is a magnificent work in excellent condition. The size is 12 cm in diameter at the rim, 8.5 cm in diameter at the base, and 2.8 cm in height. There are 20 plates in total. They will be carefully packed and shipped.
